Brooklyn’s Finest starring Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, and Wesley Snipes tells the story of three police officers and the lives they live. The movie shows the reality of the police officers in brooklyn, one cant afford to buy a house for his family, one is a lonely alcoholic a week away from retiring, and the third is a undercover cop who lost not only his identity but his wife as well.
The movie starts out with a shooting in the projects, the scene is very chaotic with screaming family members, news crews, and officers. This is an everyday event for people who live in the projects, but what makes this time so special is that the kid was a grad student and the killer was a cop.
The more into the movie, the more it starts to portray the justice system as very corrupt. The system doesn’t respect the officers and in return the officers don’t respect the system.
Without giving too much away, I’d defiantly recommend this movie. Brooklyn’s finest really reveals our police department in a different light and shows the reality of being a cop in Brooklyn.
